PGN Visits Sultan HB X to Ensure Smooth Development of Gas Network in Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta – PT PGN Tbk, as Pertamina's Gas Subholding, visited the Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, to discuss the development of the gas network in Yogyakarta City. PGN has already built a gas network in Sleman Regency through self-investment and plans to expand the development to Yogyakarta City.

PGN's President Director, Arief Setiawan Handoko, stated that the meeting with Sultan HB X was held to ensure the smooth development of the gas network in DIY so that it could provide real benefits to the community. PGN also assured that the gas network development would be carried out carefully, taking into account environmental preservation, as advised by Sultan HB X.

“We already have a roadmap for developing the gas network in DIY. Next, we will coordinate intensively with the local government. We want to develop the gas network in DIY with good intentions, but without compromising the beauty and heritage values of Yogyakarta,” said Arief after his meeting with Sultan HB X on Monday, July 15, accompanied by PGN’s Commercial Director, Ratih Esti Prihatini.

PGN aims to provide the benefits of natural gas energy to the people of DIY. The gas is delivered through pipelines, which is more practical, safe, and space-efficient. Additionally, users do not need to worry about running out of gas since natural gas is available 24 hours a day.

“The gas network developed in DIY will not only be for households but also for small and large businesses. With the tangible development and use of the gas network in DIY, we hope to help reduce the use of subsidized gas cylinders and save the state budget related to imported energy,” explained Arief.

As part of the gas network development process, PGN is continuing its outreach efforts to inform the public about the gas network. More information about the gas network and registration can be obtained through PGN's Jargas Sales Office in Yogyakarta or by registering online at http://pgn.id/daftar-gaskita.

“We will follow Sultan's message carefully, especially regarding the land conditions where the gas network will be installed, as some of it is lava land, and we must take environmental preservation into account. Additionally, the gas network itself is more environmentally friendly compared to other fossil energy sources. The primary component of natural gas is methane, which is cleaner, resulting in lower carbon emissions,” concluded Arief.
