PGN Regularly Conducts Socialization on the Safe Use of Gas Pipelines During Nataru

Jakarta – PT PGN Tbk, as Pertamina’s Subholding Gas, is committed to ensuring the safe use of natural gas during the 2024 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday period, especially for household gas pipelines (jargas). Socialization regarding the safety of using jargas is regularly conducted so that all customers can enjoy using jargas without concerns.

During Nataru 2024, PGN is on standby to ensure the safety of more than 815,000 customers spread across 74 districts/cities. The socialization of jargas safety is expected to raise awareness among customers and the public to collectively maintain the natural gas infrastructure in their surroundings.

“Safety in using jargas must be communicated to all customers and the public to anticipate any potential risks. We hope that customers will have basic knowledge of safety, such as closing the gas valve or tap when leaving the house for a long period,” said PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman (December 31, 2024).

Fajriyah continued, natural gas in jargas has been treated with an odorant as a safety feature. If customers smell gas from the odorant-treated facilities, they should immediately close the gas valve, open windows or ventilation to prevent gas accumulation, and contact PGN officers for immediate handling to ensure safety.

The socialization of jargas safety is also intended to educate customers on how to anticipate any unexpected events. The emergency response service operates 24 hours a day and can be contacted through PGN Contact Center at 135 or the nearest PGN area office.

“We also urge all customers to contact PGN officers immediately if there are complaints or issues related to pipe installations, stoves, or other natural gas infrastructure,” said Fajriyah.

PGN is increasing patrols and inspections of all natural gas infrastructure during Nataru 2024. On one hand, PGN provides socialization on safety to customers, while on the other, PGN collaborates with the Indonesian National Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to maintain security in areas with moderate to high risk.
