PGN Partners with KSM to Build Over 6,000 Gas Connections in Semarang and Yogyakarta
Jakarta – PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) is committed to meeting its target of developing 117,000 household gas connections (GasKita) in 2024 and 200,000 household connections in 2025 across various regions. To achieve this, PGN is collaborating with several parties, including PT Kian Santang Muliatama (KSM), as a contractor for the gas network development.
PGN has appointed KSM to implement the construction of more than 6,000 gas connections specifically in Semarang and D.I. Yogyakarta. These two areas are part of PGN’s Sales and Operation Region III (SOR III), which has a total of 204,188 household customers. PGN and KSM signed a cooperation contract, represented by Agung Kusbiantoro, Group Head of City Gas Project at PGN, and Edy Nurhamid Amin, President Director of KSM, on Monday, September 9, 2024. The signing was witnessed by PGN’s Director of Infrastructure and Technology, Harry Budi Sidharta.
“Gas networks are the future of domestic energy use because the market potential is vast. We need partners to realize the use of gas networks in households. We hope this cooperation can contribute to achieving our gas network development targets,” said Harry Budi Sidharta, PGN’s Director of Infrastructure and Technology.
Harry continued, expressing the hope that KSM would carry out the project with high standards of safety, security, and aesthetics.
The government also strongly supports the increased utilization and easier access to natural gas for the public through gas networks. Expanding the gas network will contribute to the national energy mix, providing the public with energy options to meet their daily needs. At the same time, increased use of gas networks can help reduce subsidies and LPG imports.
“It is an honor and motivation for us to carry out this work with full dedication and commitment. This collaboration is very strategic for us because, as we know, city gas or gas networks are part of the National Strategic Project, where the government views this as a program eagerly awaited by the public,” said Edy Nurhamid Amin, President Director of KSM.
Edy added that KSM is committed to supporting the utilization of domestic products. In this gas network project, KSM will use locally produced materials, as part of its vision and mission to promote the growth of domestic products for use in the oil and gas industry, particularly for household gas networks.
