PGN and Tifico Green the Earth, Support the 2060 Net Zero Emission Target

Tangerang – Pertamina Gas Subholding, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), has reaffirmed its commitment to support Indonesia's 2060 Net Zero Emission target by expanding the use of clean energy and engaging its industrial customers in environmental conservation activities. Together with PT Tifico Fiber Indonesia Tbk (Tifico), PGN is implementing a tree planting program in the Tifico industrial area, Tangerang, as part of the implementation of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

This program aims to optimize the use of available green land while increasing the capacity of the industrial area to absorb carbon and produce oxygen, while supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to climate change.

Heny Purwati, Area Head of PGN Tangerang, emphasized that this activity is in line with PGN's mission to support government programs in reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the transition to clean energy.

"The natural gas we distribute is clean energy that helps customers reduce carbon emissions. We also invite industrial customers such as Tifico to participate in this greening program, which is expected to have a positive impact on the environment. With collaboration like this, we hope that the impact will not only be on business, but also on environmental sustainability," said Heny in her statement, (11/18/2024).

Sugito Budiono, President Director of Tifico, welcomed and appreciated this program, "This greening initiative reflects a shared commitment to maintaining sustainability," he said.

Tifico, as a producer of textile raw materials, has been a loyal customer of PGN since 1994. For 30 years, Tifico has played an active role in preserving the environment by utilizing low-emission energy in its operations. PGN distributes 49,090 MMBtu of natural gas to Tifico through integrated infrastructure used for pack washing machines, incinerators, and boilers.

Planting trees in the Tifico industrial area is also an important step in strengthening collaboration to create a healthier and more sustainable ecosystem. This program emphasizes PGN's role as a provider of clean energy solutions that enable its industrial customers to significantly reduce their carbon footprint.
