Pertamina Roadshow for the 2024 Pertamina Journalism Award Education Program in Northern Sumatra
Medan – PT Pertamina (Persero) held a presentation about the 2024 Pertamina Journalism Award (AJP) competition for media professionals in Northern Sumatra, supported by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) as the regional coordinator. The event took place on October 4, 2024, and was enthusiastically attended by participants both in person and virtually. The Northern Sumatra region encompasses the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
Various presentations were delivered to journalists to inspire creativity in writing, television reporting, photo essays, radio features, and CSR/UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) publications. Comprehensive details about the competition criteria were provided, along with a sharing session from a previous competition winner. Media professionals from across Indonesia can participate in the competition, starting with regional stages and culminating in the national finals.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Pertamina, expressed hope that this event would strengthen communication and relationships between Pertamina, its subsidiaries, and the media. “We have opened the AJP 2024 as a way to appreciate media professionals for their outstanding works in journalism,” he added during the event.
Several business units within Pertamina's Subholdings enlivened the event by presenting their profiles and business activities in the region. Presentations were given by PGN, Patra Jasa, Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN), Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (PNRE), and Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK).
During the event, PGN shared insights about its operations in Sumatra, managed by SOR 1, with 132,805 customers and a natural gas sales volume of 136.59 BBTUD. The natural gas is distributed through pipelines spanning 5,274 km. PGN also highlighted various business partnership programs with private entities in Batam, Lampung, Palembang, Medan, and Pekanbaru.
PPN presented its operational activities in Northern Sumatra, focusing on the distribution of fuel and LPG. The company also outlined its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, including sustainable empowerment and MSME development in the region.
PNRE showcased its Sei Mangkei solar power plant (PLTS) and biogas power plant (PLTBG), with respective capacities of 2 MWp and 2.4 MWp. PNRE is aggressively expanding its environmentally friendly portfolio to enhance carbon credit value for the company.
PTK, part of Pertamina International Shipping Subholding, shared details about its fleet of 370 units. Its CSR initiatives in the region include the Marine Economic Incubation Program aimed at optimizing marine resources through downstream activities to add value.
Patra Jasa highlighted its expertise in property management, hospitality, and corporate facility support. One of its flagship products is a glamping accommodation near Lake Toba, offering a unique experiential stay.
With the theme “Energizing the Acceleration,” aligning with Pertamina's 67th anniversary, the AJP competition is expected to foster positive collaboration between Pertamina and Indonesian journalism, showcasing the contribution of the national oil and gas industry while accelerating government programs to achieve net-zero emissions.
