Ensuring Safe and Secure Natural Gas Distribution, PGN Wins Subroto Award 2024

Jakarta – PT PGN Tbk, a subsidiary of Pertamina Gas, remains committed to managing and distributing natural gas across Indonesia. This dedication is a top priority for PGN, aiming to significantly increase natural gas production to meet domestic demand safely and securely. Additionally, this effort aligns with PGN’s contribution to bolstering Indonesia's economic growth.

As of June 2024, PGN's gas distribution across its operational areas reached 841 BBTUD. Safety and security measures have been consistently implemented in every activity, achieving over 500 million Safe Work Hours (SWH).

For its outstanding performance in ensuring the safe and secure distribution of natural gas, PGN’s Sales and Operations Region II (SOR II) received the prestigious Subroto Award. This award, the highest recognition in the energy and mineral resources sector, was conferred by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in the Safety, Engineering, and Environmental Protection category on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

The Subroto Award ceremony was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia. PGN’s Commercial Director, Ratih Esti Prahatini, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

This achievement was made possible through the contributions of all PGN operational areas, particularly the West Java Region (JBB), a key driver of Indonesia’s economy, managed by SOR II. This commitment is evidenced by SOR II’s record of 48 Safe Work Hours (SWH) in implementing safety and security measures in every activity.

In the JBB region, PGN utilizes a 3,200 km pipeline network, consisting of 1,817 km of steel pipes and 1,398 km of PE pipes, supported by various infrastructure components. This infrastructure distributes gas from several sources, including Pertamina EP and MEPG, and is integrated with the SSWJ pipeline, FSRU Lampung, and FSRU West Java.

PGN's SOR II operations encompass DKI Jakarta, Banten, and West Java, serving nine customer segments, including 230,453 Households, 795 Small businesses, 1,473 Industries, 7 Power plants.

PGN also supplies natural gas for refineries, fertilizers, CNG fueling stations, and lifting oil. A significant portion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and retail customers are served through the "beyond pipeline" model, utilizing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

“It is an honor for PGN, especially SOR II, to manage the utilization of natural gas for all customers in the West Java region. The growing trend of natural gas utilization in this area holds great potential, and the Subroto Award motivates us to continue prioritizing safety, security, and environmental awareness,” said Ratih.

She added that the trust in PGN's commitment to safety and security will be maintained sustainably. PGN’s operations will also aim to create positive impacts on the surrounding communities in economic, social, and environmental aspects.
