Supporting National Energy Security: Pertamina Gas and Pertamina Patra Niaga Collaborate on the Construction of the Cikampek-Plumpang Fuel Pipeline

Jakarta, October 6, 2024 – PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), as part of Pertamina's Gas Subholding, signed a Cooperation Agreement for Fuel Pipeline Services from Cikampek to Plumpang on Friday (04/10) at Grha Pertamina. Through a tender process, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) selected Pertagas to undertake the construction of a ±96-kilometer fuel pipeline from Cikampek to Plumpang.

The agreement was signed by the President Director of Pertamina Gas and the President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, witnessed by the Director of Logistics and Infrastructure of PT Pertamina (Persero), the Director of Strategy and Business Development of Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN), and the Director of Infrastructure and Technology of PGN.

The collaboration between PPN and Pertagas in constructing the Cikampek-Plumpang pipeline demonstrates Pertamina Group’s synergy in accelerating energy infrastructure development and highlights PT Pertamina (Persero)'s commitment to meeting Indonesia's fuel needs.

Rosa Permata Sari, PGN's Director of Strategy and Business Development, emphasized in her remarks that Pertagas, as an energy infrastructure company, welcomed the trust placed by PPN to build the fuel distribution infrastructure from Cikampek to Plumpang.

"With the experience and expertise we possess, Pertamina Gas Subholding continues to support the development of pipeline-based infrastructure to ensure reliable energy distribution," Rosa added.

At the same event, PT Pertamina (Persero)’s Director of Logistics and Infrastructure, Alfian Nasution, highlighted that the collaboration among Pertamina Subholdings is a significant milestone in realizing Indonesia's energy security.

"Through the synergy and collaboration of Pertamina Group affiliates across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, we aim to create added value, improve efficiency, and enhance the competitiveness of Pertamina Group in facing challenges to deliver sustainable and affordable energy security for the public," Alfian emphasized.

The Cikampek-Plumpang pipeline project will transport fuel products from the KPI Balongan refinery to the Cikampek and Plumpang Fuel Terminals (TBBM) with an estimated volume of 4.6 million kL/year. This partnership reflects Pertamina Group's synergy, ensuring reliable fuel supply and more cost-efficient transportation.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga’s President Director, Riva Siahaan, explained that the pipeline would replace the existing infrastructure and is expected to improve operational reliability in fuel distribution.

"This pipeline is crucial as Plumpang supplies nearly 1,000 gas stations, and with Tanjung Priok’s high occupancy rate, any disruptions could significantly increase costs. Therefore, it is essential to complete the Cikampek-Plumpang project as soon as possible," Riva stated.

Echoing this sentiment, Pertamina Gas President Director, Gamal Imam Santoso, emphasized the importance of the pipeline construction. "The development and management of this fuel pipeline will enhance Pertagas' competencies and diversify its business in the long term," he said.

Expanding Business Portfolio

Pertamina Gas continues to expand its business portfolio as an energy infrastructure company. The company operates across Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and Papua, with assets spanning the midstream to downstream sectors. Currently, Pertamina Gas manages 62 pipeline segments totaling 2,930 kilometers, two LPG plants with a capacity of 1,130 tons per day, a regasification terminal with a capacity of 400 BBtud, and an LNG hub with a capacity of 127,000 m³.

This expansion is part of Pertamina Gas' commitment to supporting energy distribution in Indonesia. With integrated infrastructure, the company aims to enhance efficiency and reliability in energy supply to meet the needs of communities and industries across various regions.
