Targeting 15 BBTUD Potential in Sulawesi, PGN Signs Two MoUs for Industrial Natural Gas Utilization
Makassar – PT PGN Tbk, as Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, is targeting the development of natural gas for the industrial sector with a potential of 15 BBTUD in Sulawesi. As part of its efforts to achieve this target, PGN signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Friday, October 4, 2024, concerning the potential development and utilization of natural gas in South Sulawesi.
The first MoU was signed between PGN, KSO Indogawa, and Siantar Tara Sejati to supply natural gas for power plants in South Sulawesi. The potential gas supply for this need is estimated at 5 BBTUD.
The second MoU was signed with the Pattene Industrial Area, which spans approximately 1,000 hectares and hosts around 50 industrial tenants. This collaboration provides a strategic location for PGN to expand its market penetration. As the number of tenants in the industrial area grows, the potential for natural gas absorption is also expected to increase.
“PGN strives to make collaboration a synergy that benefits industrial development and regional economies. It is hoped that all parties will promptly follow up to realize concrete cooperation where natural gas becomes one of the attractions for investment,” said PGN Commercial Director Ratih Esti Prihatini.
PGN is committed to maintaining the availability of natural gas to ensure its optimal utilization. As the national natural gas aggregator, PGN offers pipeline gas, LNG, and CNG services, allowing for flexible gas distribution based on specific needs.
“This collaboration aligns with PGN's efforts to develop markets in Sulawesi. Moreover, PGN aims to increase the use of natural gas in the clean energy mix, particularly in Central and Eastern Indonesia. Through this commitment, PGN hopes to contribute to carbon emission reductions during the energy transition,” Ratih concluded.
